Spatial planning and climate targets

The project focuses on key areas of spatial planning that have a significant CO2 impact.

Despite the fact that spatial planning can have a significant CO2 effect, spatial planning is not a clear focus area in the DK2020 climate plans that many municipalities are preparing these years. There is a lack of knowledge and exchange of experience concerning how spatial planning affects achieving climate targets - and inspiration for more climate-friendly spatial planning.

The aim is to gather knowledge on the links between spatial planning and climate planning that can contribute to reduced CO2 emissions. The project will result in an inspirational booklet with best practice cases from home and abroad, two workshops with the Danish municipalities on the importance of spatial planning for climate targets, and inspirational and discussion material targeted at political committees in the municipalities.

The project is carried out in collaboration with KTC, Danish City Planning Laboratory and Gate21 and is supported by Realdania.
