The road to green transport of goods
So something has to be done if we are to meet the target of reducing our CO2 emissions by 70% by 2030 and becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
We have looked at the role of road freight transport in emissions and how it can be transformed. Below you can read our two reports on the scale of the problem, the actors, and barriers to transformation. You can read the reports in full or in a short pixi version.
The graphic here summarises the issue and points to electrification as the way forward for heavy transport. Large trucks emit a disproportionate amount of CO2 and too many of them drive around empty after delivering their cargo - to the detriment of the environment, people in cities and the climate.
You can also listen to our podcast series Grønt Lys (Green Light). In the mini-series, we explain why freight transport emits so much CO2 and how we can phase it out as soon as possible.
The podcast features Henrik Gudmundsson, senior consultant at CONCITO, Nicolaj Boysen, COO at Citylogistik, Lasse Kristoffersen, political consultant at ITD, Allan Larsen, professor at DTU Management, and former DI Transport director Michael Svane.
The podcast has been developed with the support of the Energifonden.
