Green investor and entrepreneur Tommy Ahlers takes over the chairmanship from former EU Climate Commissioner and Climate Minister Connie Hedegaard, who, according to CONCITO's statutes, will step down after two four year terms.

The planned change in leadership ensures continued ambitious development of the think tank as a knowledge partner in the green transition. Tommy Ahlers has been on CONCITO's board for two years, and as a visionary green investor, he is driven by a passion to create results by translating ideas and new technologies into tools for the green transition. At the same time, as former Minister of Education and Research and climate spokesperson for Venstre, Tommy Ahlers has worked for green ambitions and concrete solutions to the climate crisis. This speaks directly to CONCITO's purpose of translating knowledge into climate action.

"I'm really looking forward to supporting CONCITO's important work. The need for economically independent, and nonpartisan knowledge about the green transition has never been greater. CONCITO is taking on a major task for the benefit of decision-makers, authorities and everyone with an interest in the climate-neutral and climate-resilient society of the future - in Denmark, the EU and globally," says Tommy Ahlers.

With her extensive knowledge, experience and commitment to the climate cause, Connie Hedegaard has played an absolutely crucial role in the development of CONCITO - from a small think tank to the professional organization it is today with broad expertise and strong commitment. She retains an affiliation with CONCITO as an external advisor with a special focus on the EU's green transition and international climate policy.

"The climate crisis is severe, but we can avoid the worst scenarios if we act on the knowledge we have about the solutions. That's why the solution-oriented knowledge CONCITO produces is so essential. I am proud to have contributed to CONCITO's development and look forward to continuing the collaboration," says Connie Hedegaard.

The board of directors have also welcomed a new member, Eva Jensen, who has been an active part of Danish and European climate policy for many years. She is currently Head of Climate, Energy and Transport at the European Environment Agency. Eva Jensen is therefore a great addition to CONCITO's board, especially in terms of supporting CONCITO's strong focus on the EU's climate transition and international engagement.

CONCITO's Board of Directors now consists of: Chairman Tommy Ahlers, Peter Birch Sørensen, economist and professor at the University of Copenhagen, Signe Frese, Head of CSR at Dagrofa, Katrine Krogh Andersen, Dean of the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences, Dewi Dylander, Deputy Director at PKA, responsible for sustainable investments,  and the new member, Eva Jensen.
