Anna Esbjørn

Anna is Program Director for CONCITO's program Future Cities, which focuses on the role of cities in the green transition. 

A special focus in the program is the climate leadership by Danish municipalities. Together with C40 Cities and the philanthropic association Realdania, Anna initiated the DK2020 project, which has elevated the climate action planning by Danish municipalities to international best practice. Today, the Climate Alliance – with Realdania, Local Government Denmark (KL) and the five Danish regions as partners and CONCITO and C40 as knowledge partners – supports the implementation of ambitious plans into effective climate action. 

Anna holds an MA in urban anthropology and has worked for many years with sustainable urban development and green governance, both in Denmark and internationally. She was previously Head of Projects at the Danish Architecture Center, where she led the Strategic Urban Governance program.
